Press Release

Gallery70 is happy to present the first Online Exclusive show by the Swedish born artist Niusha Khanmohammadi. Between poetry and text, Niusha presents her Gränsland

A space between, where one world meets another, and belonging is neither here nor there,
but everywhere, in fragments and echoes.
Ink and water whisper stories of love, of travel, of faces - half-seen, half-known, aligning by chance or by fate.
No two alike, yet side by side, they shape a mosaic of moments, small yet infinite, fleeting yet profound, a map of emotions stitched in quiet strokes.
We move, we meet, we gather, picking up pieces of each other, carrying them forward, building homes within chosen hearts.
A borderland of memory and motion, where past and present intertwine, where we step between worlds, and find ourselves whole.

Rooted in the artist's experiences of being born and raised in Sweden, of Iranian heritage, Gränsland reflects a life lived in transition, never fully belonging to one place, yet finding home in many. Having worked in international development, the artist has lived in ten countries, connecting to different cultures and creating new spaces of home amongst new people.

The artist's journey of floating from one space to another, connecting with people, and building chosen communities, is mirrored in the faces within these works. This exhibition emphasizes the universal human desire for belonging and creating a chosen home. It celebrates how we bring pieces of ourselves to the spaces we inhabit and how we build something larger—a shared world of common spaces, emotions, and connections.
Gränsland invites viewers to reflect on the spaces where worlds, identities, and emotions meet. It is a story of connection: between the self and the other, the individual and the community, and the past and the present. It is a borderland where love, travel, and belonging intertwine, building bridges in the in-between.
