Quintessence - Finding influences in Haitian Art, is a group exhibition leading you on a quest of the plurality of Haitian Art. What might be its influence? Its inspiration? Its roots? Its provenance? Come and explore this unique collection and you might find the answers at JonaQuestArt Gallery.
This first group exhibition in Greenwich will initiate you to the sparkling vitality of Haitian Art. We will present you a selection of unveiled works of world renowned and fast emerging Haitian artists whose majority is self-taught and whom works have been presented mainly in USA, France, Canada, Haiti and recently in UK.
Isolated from the mainstream of American and European art Haiti has been mastering art for decades forging its singularity and continues to receive critical world acclaim for its art. Haitian Art is a complex tradition, reflecting African roots with strong Indigenous American and European aesthetic and religious influences.
We propose you confront your sense and feelings to understand the energies and perceptions that inform the creation of Haitian Art. We will appeal to your sub-consciousness and engage you into an intrinsic journey through which you will progressively come to understand the extraordinary mix and cultural foundation of Haitian Art.
We are launching a new series of unseen exhibitions and events where all arts converge to help you discovering the beauty of Haiti and stimulating your interaction with the heart and the soul of Haitian art.
Benefits from the sales of the exhibition will support artists and their community art projects in Haiti i.e. developing & sustaining art workshops for children
