Emma Elliott was awarded 1st Prize at the 2015 Passion For Freedom Art Festival for her bronze sculpture Spin-Head while The Sacred and Profane was voted the People's Choice.
The 7th Freedom Gala Awards Ceremony at the Mall Galleries on 25th September was oversubscribed, and this follow up show provides a unique opportunity to examine Emma's winning entries and other recent works in a more intimate setting.
Emma Elliott is intrigued by everything incongruous and by how our pre-human past still resonates in present-day behaviour. Her works explore the refined and the primitive, the physical and the spiritual; the constraints society places on our animalistic desires and sensualities.
The Passion For Freedom Award recognises her advocacy of human rights and freedom of expression which are at the core of her artistic practice. Previous prizes include the 2014 WinterPride Visual Arts Award and LARA Best Sculpture of 2011.
