Artist Statement

I am a Black American from Florida and I believe it’s important to celebrate being Black American. That it’s enough, I don’t need to be anything more. I don’t need to trace my roots, my history back to Africa—it’s there and it’s beautiful but, there are many of us that cannot trace our roots back. We are Black American. That’s it, that’s all.

My artwork centers around black women including the positive and negative, nuanced and complex. With my art, I always want to bring attention to what’s happening in the world. I want to celebrate being a black woman while still addressing the lack of care and humanization from the world.

There’s a lot of positive that I am showing through each canvas.
If no one else loves us out loud, then I will.
If no one else fights for us, then I will.
I’m lucky to have been born black, and to have been born a woman.

Venue ( Address ):
