From the estate of The Founder of Hawaiian Tropic Suncare, Ron Rice, over 100 pieces of art will be shown May 2nd through the 4th at The Makery, 260 S Los Angeles Street, in Los Angeles. There will be over 40 originals Rice acquired on his trip to Cuba in 2007. The exhibition also features a one-of-a-kind sculpture commissioned by Ron Rice from the famed artist Kevin Berlin. This is a true masterpiece that is over 8 feet tall and weighs over 800 pounds. The show also includes two original pieces from artist Christian Lassen. There are very few original Lassen paintings on the market. This work is a must see.
Other work in the exhibition is from relief sculpturer Bill Mac. One piece was commissioned and sculpted from Miss Hawaiian Tropic winner Cheryl DePew.
Also on view, from the collection of Vanessa Bednar will be over 30 works by her late friend, artist Steve Kaufman. He was the protégé of Andy Warhol who collaborated with people such as Mohammed Ali, Oscar De e La Hoya, John Travolta, Al Pacino, the estate of Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra and the cast of the Sopranos to create amazingly fun Pop Art paintings. There are 3 originals of Mickey Mouse, Minnie and a group of 5 of the Disney icons. As an extra exhibit, 15 dresses inspired by Barbies iconic dresses and used in the series Barbee Rehab will be on display. This is an amazingly fun event to check out!
