SURFACE TENSION - SOLARPLATE ETCHINGS BY KATHY CARL

Kathy Carl, the featured artist at Partners Gallery for November, has taken a unique approach to printmaking. The eco-friendly Solarplate process has allowed her to move away from the toxic materials of traditional etching methods. She uses unconventional tools to create her images for exposure to the surface—cut-up credit cards, notched adhesive spreaders, container lids, and string.

The artist says, “These original prints are about my personal impressions of nature, where I find an exciting calmness as these visions fill the blank surface.”
