Exhibition Dates: January 10 - February 1, 2025
OPENING RECEPTION: JANUARY 16, 2025 | 5:30 - 8 PM
Press Release:
Lichtundfire is pleased to present TURBULENCE an exhibition in various media, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and works on paper that describes a state of being- a disquietness or disruptive civil disorder or social commotion, or in hydraulics- a haphazard secondary motion within a moving fluid, or an irregular motion of the atmosphere, triggered by gusts or unexpected temperature changes.
The work in the exhibition, abstractly, metaphorically and directly comments on a state of disruption or abrupt change of course- reflecting a shared human experience on a global scale. The artists whether with dynamic and turbulent brushstrokes, lines or marks, unconventional materials that coalesce in an unfamiliar way, or depictions of seemingly threatening, disturbing motion- all echo a state of being that evokes the experience of standing on shaky ground, being suddenly lifted up by a Tornado or being thrust into a quagmire.
The concept of the exhibition seeks to go beyond a particular experience while bringing them all together under a title and in a show that encompasses more than its individual interpretations.

LICHTUNDFIRE was established in 2015, with a visual program emphasizing nonrepresentational, conceptual, and abstract art; especially minimal, color field, geometrical, straight edge, abstract expressionist painting, lyrical abstraction, and process work in all media, as well as abstracted, conceptual representation.
Through its exhibitions, Lichtundfire's program is dedicated to developing and nurturing an active, engaged, progressive, and emancipated art community that addresses cultural and social realities as expressed through visual arts. Beyond its carefully curated visual program, Lichtundfire seeks to actively connect with other parts of the creative community, especially in the fields of poetry, literature, philosophy, and Critical Theory.
