SAN FRANCISCO - Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present Meguru, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Japanese artist Ozabu. For her inaugural solo exhibition with the gallery, Ozabu has created a body of hauntingly beautiful drawings, masterfully rendered in graphite.
The title of the exhibition translates to “the changing of the seasons.” Fascinated by the fleeting moments of subtle, nearly imperceptible transitions in nature, Ozabu’s work is a reflection of this delicacy and detail. The artist captures the intangible breaths between seasons that “go away without saying goodbye” with etherial and flowing marks.
The self-taught artist’s ghostly world is inspired by nature, mythology and a uniquely Japanese sensibility. Imbued with a folkloric sensibility, Ozabu’s subjects inhabit a liminal space between reality and spectral. Delicate figures commune with oversize flora and fauna in the intimately sized drawings, inviting the viewer to step in closer to their realm.
Please join us for Meguru, opening November 2nd with an evening reception from 6pm - 9pm. A new limited edition print created in collaboration with Pressure Printing will be released at the opening. The artist will be in attendance. The exhibition will be on view through November 23rd. For more information, additional images, or exclusive content, please email us at sf@hashimotocontemporary.com
