Best in Show
Look What I Can Do! by Lana Burnett
9x12 inches, Pastels on toned Pastelmat paper
This piece made more than one of jurors exclaim, "Awww!" out loud. On top of the over-the-top cuteness factor, the drawing is expertly crafted with detail that is energetic and yet soft, like the subject. It feels like we can know this dog by the way the fur is rendered, and it feels like those soul-filled eyes know us too.

Artist:
From the artist: I've been painting quality watercolor portraits and landscapes for 30 years. I obtained my early professional training at the University of South Florida and continued my training at numerous workshops with international watercolor artists Tom Lynch and Tom Jones, among others. In portraits I strive to obtain a level of realism which captures the personality of the individual. I'm recently semi-retired and am pleased to add pastels to my offers, and look forward to totally devoting myself to my passion of painting.
