A biennial international survey of the queer photographic gaze
2019 LGBTQ exhibitions in major museums include the Metropolitan Museum, the Samuel R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Brooklyn Museum, and many more.
DO YOU SHOOT QUEER?
Masculine, feminine, non-binary, gender-fluid
— help us tell our story.
ROUND HOLE SQUARE PEG 4™ is an open call, juried photography competition conceived with the intent to acquire a fresh LGBTQ visual culture for the 21st century. Help create a new wave of queer art and soul.
As Stonewall 50 passes, LGBTQ persecution intensifies all over the world. Through art exhibitions, queer people shout about love, visibility, and activism. Round Hole Square Peg 4 is the only LGBTQ booth at a majoe international art fair.
35 PHOTOGRAPHERS will be selected by a panel of five notable LGBTQ gallerists and the Director of Photo LA. The exhibition will debut at PHOTO LA 2020 January 30—February 2, 2020, then move to the City of West Hollywood’s Plummer Park Gallery for an extended museum-like run from February 8 - March 4, 2020. All work at both venues is for sale.
Past press coverage has included Huffington Post, Out, Advocate, Complex Style, Intomore, German TV and Dutch print news. This is the Year of the Queer and with it comes a major increase of queer cultural coverage. In 2020 we will be targeting the New York Times and other mainstream media for press coverage, as well as all the queer venues that have covered us in the past.
PHOTO LA is the longest-running contemporary art fair on the west coast.
Claudia Bartlett, director of Photo LA and Chris Davies, publisher of Fabrik Magazine and director of Fabrik Projects Gallery will be selecting the artists in the competition for two special recognition awards.
After PHOTO LA, the show moves to the City of West Hollywood's Plummer Park Gallery for a longer museum-like run from February 8-March 4, 2020, with a special opening and closing night reception.
Opening night in West Hollywood will feature a celebrity-driven, live photography auction to benefit The Trevor Project: the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth and the ONE Archives Foundation: a vital resource for showcasing the trailblazing history and rich culture of LGBTQ communities through exhibitions, public programs, and education initiatives that pull from the largest collection of LGBTQ archival materials in the world.
Sponsores include Photo LA, Tom of Finland Foundation, Fabrik Magazine and The City of West Hollywood Visit RoundHoleSquarePeg4.com to read about the judges, access a short history of LGBT photography, yo see over 20 press links and to get complete entry details.
