The Untitled Space is proud to present "Fahren Feingold Ethereal Legacy," a benefit art auction featuring paintings by the celebrated artist Fahren Feingold in partnership with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to ending colorectal cancer. The auction will showcase 80 unique watercolor paintings, including several new releases from the artist’s estate. An online preview of the auction lots will be available starting 12 PM EST, June 19, 2024, with bidding live from June 20, 2024, 12 PM EST through June 30, 2024, 6 PM EST on untitled-space.art.

Proceeds from each artwork sold in the auction will be donated to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance in light of her untimely death from colon cancer in September 2023 at the age of 43. The benefit auction features a vibrant collection of works on paper and panel by Feingold, who was renowned for her ethereal feminine watercolor paintings. Through fluid brushstrokes and her signature wet-on-wet technique, Feingold's art emphasizes the female gaze, celebrating the beauty and complexity of the female form. The auction showcases Feingold’s evolution as an artist, from her early works inspired by vintage imagery to her later pieces that drew from her own photographs and personal connections with her subjects. Represented by The Untitled Space since 2017, Feingold's work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions, group shows, and benefits. Her art is part of many notable international collections and has captivated global audiences while sparking important discussions about the representation of women in art. Feingold's artistic journey was marked by a fearless exploration of the female form, challenging centuries of censorship and shaming surrounding the female body. From her early days, Feingold's work stood out for its unapologetic depiction of the female nude, advocating for a more inclusive representation of women in art. Through her art, she gave voice to women of the past and present, exploring the complexities of female identity and the ongoing struggle for equality. 

Tragically, Fahren Feingold was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2023 at the age of 43 and passed away on September 26, 2023, just weeks after her diagnosis, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, innovation, and empowerment. Her art continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide, reminding us of the enduring power of the female gaze and the importance of continuing her fight for women's equality and representation. 

Colorectal cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. and the second leading cause of cancer death, despite the fact that it can be prevented with screening and is highly treatable when detected early. The American Cancer Society estimates 152,810 new cases and 53,010 deaths in 2024. Each year, about 150,000 Americans are diagnosed, and over 50,000 die from the disease, with a 1 in 24 lifetime risk. Approximately 10% of cases occur in those under 50, and this group is experiencing a 1-2% annual increase, making colorectal cancer the deadliest cancer among young men and the second deadliest among young women. With over 1.5 million survivors, early detection and treatment remain crucial in combating this preventable and treatable cancer across all age groups.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance, founded in 1999 by 41 survivors, caregivers, and friends, is the nation's leading non-profit dedicated to ending colorectal cancer through advocacy for prevention, provision of support services, and acceleration of research, having invested over $5 million to date. With a passionate network of allies, the organization builds programs to support patients, increase screening rates, and guide thousands annually through patient navigation, working to eliminate this disease within our lifetime by raising awareness, promoting early detection, and funding innovative research to prevent and cure colorectal cancer.

About Fahren Feingold

Fahren Feingold (September 19, 1980 – September 26, 2023) was a visionary artist whose captivating watercolor paintings redefined the depiction of femininity in contemporary art. Born in San Francisco and raised in Los Angeles, Feingold exhibited a prodigious talent for art from a young age. At seventeen, she moved to New York City to study at Parsons School of Design after winning the best artist award at her high school, the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica.

Feingold's artistic journey began in the world of fashion design, where she honed her creative skills working for esteemed brands such as Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller, and J.Crew. However, it was her transition from fashion to fine art that marked a pivotal moment in her career. In 2016, her artwork caught the eye of the legendary Nick Knight, who commissioned her for SHOWstudio. That same year, her work was featured at The Untitled Space in the group show “LIFEFORCE” curated by Kelsey and Remy Bennett. From that point on, she dedicated herself fully to her passion for painting, embarking on a journey that would leave an indelible mark on the art world.

Her watercolors, inspired by vintage imagery and infused with a modern sensibility, challenge societal norms and celebrate the beauty of the female form. With her distinctive style characterized by delicate, ethereal watercolors and bold brushstrokes, Feingold quickly garnered attention and acclaim. Her paintings, often exploring themes of femininity, sensuality, and female empowerment, captivated audiences worldwide. Vogue hailed her as "a trailblazing artist on a meteoric rise," recognizing her profound influence on contemporary art.

Represented by The Untitled Space since 2017, Feingold was featured in over 30 exhibitions presented by the gallery including seven solo shows: “FAHREN FEINGOLD” (2017), “PEEP SHOW” (2018), “Golden Touch” (2018), “HIGH ON LIFE” (2021), “WET DREAMS” (2021), “LIVING FOR LOVE” (2023), and “ETHEREAL LEGACY” (2024).
