Idyllwild Arts invites the public to attend their “Community Day” on Saturday, May 11 (11:30am-6pm) to learn about the transformative power of art. This free event takes place on the school’s stunning campus (52500 Temecula Road, Idyllwild), providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about the school and different programs on offer, which include dance, music, fashion, film and visual arts. Student work will be showcased along with access to lectures, demonstration classes, and teacher introductions. The day will culminate in a student production of the musical, CABARET followed by a late afternoon reception and auction.
As a featured part of the event, Arts Enterprise Laboratory (AEL) senior student Devika Aggarwal will unveil her thought-provoking, interactive and meticulously-engineered art installation “Outside In,” a sphere-like, geodesic dome structure. Made of burnt wood and steel, the structure of “Outside In,” features a door through which one can enter to view 35 original drawings contained within, which represent a collection of real people’s stories and experiences. Made possible by a student grant Devika received from the School’s funded AEL program, the semi-permanent art work will provide a space on campus for inspiration and reflection.
